The Mark of Athena
Rick Riordan

The seven Greek and Roman demigods are finally together.  Now they must embark on their quest to close the Doors of Death and stop Gaea from taking over.  Annabeth has also been given a quest by her mother Athena to follow the mark of Athena and avenvege her.  Not to mention Annabeth has just been reuinted with her boyfriend, Percy Jackson, after he lost his memory for a few months.  She doesn’t know what to expect and if he has changed at all.  Everyone is feeling the pressure as the seven board the Argo II and set off for Rome.

Rick Riordan has once again written a great story.  Not only do we have more of Percy and Annabeth but the newer demigods are just as captivating and entertaining.  This book has everything in it; mythology, drama, suspence, action, romance, comedy and tragedy! The demigods are full of cleverness and witty humor when they are facing their enemies which makes these books so engaging.  Although Percy and his friends are demigods, they all have their flaws that they must deal with which makes them much more interesting and likeable for me.  This book is more focused on Annabeth’s journey but everyone makes and appearance and other plotlines continue to evolve.

I loved every minute of the book right until the GIANT CLIFFHANGER at the end!!! My only gripe is that I have to wait an entire YEAR to find out what happens next!! If you haven’t read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books or the first two Heros of Olympus books I highly recommend that you do.
